Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. | | Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. | | Obituary: Arlys May Hoover was born February 12, 1944 to Verl and Mabel (Ewing) Hoover in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Gerald R. Knudson on November 26, 1960. Arlys graduated from Bernel Hairstyling College on October 29, 1970 and worked as a cosmetologist for 40 years until time of death. Arlys was owner of Arlys’ La Petit Beauty Salon and Fitness Center. She enjoyed working with the ladies in her salon and felt all her clients were more like family and certainly made another family out of all her co-workers, Kris, Tanya, Deb, Judy, Roxi, Connie. And loved them all dearly.
She enjoyed camping, participating in the Frontier Days Parade, enjoyed watching the figure 8 races and her pets. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald (Gerry) Knudson; daughters, Eileen and Rick Helmers, Marlene (Marti) and John Williams, Cheryl and Bill Cerwick; grandchildren, Justin (Machelle) Cerwick, Jessica (Jason) McInville, Jerad Helmers, Joseph Cerwick, Janelle (Lucas) Lumsden, and John Williams III; great greatchildren, Aryssa and Amyrra Lumsden, Jordan and Noah Cerwick and Baby Cerwick, Preston, Carter and Brody McInville. Her brothers and sisters, Vernon and Joanne Hoover, Mervin and Alberta Hoover, Darrel and Diane Hoover, Larry and Sheryl Hoover, Loren and Laina Hoover, Bryan and Tanya Hoover, Marsha Hoover, Cindy Hoover, Judy and Mike Park, Leone and Merlin Bruns. She is preceded in death by her parents, Verl and Mabel (Ewing) Hoover; brother, Leroy Hoover; sister-in-law, Sharon Hoover and granddaughter, Tricia Williams.
She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
